Several rare or endangered species call Point Washington State Forest their home, including the American kestrel, flatwoods salamander, gopher tortoise, and the white-topped pitcher plant. You can also find the largest population of Curtiss sand grass in the world here. There are several hiking and biking trails through the forest, and it is also a popular park for camping. 

  • Eden Gardens State Park

If you want to explore an area that is not only beautiful but rich in history, you’ll love Eden Gardens State Park. This park is home to the charmingly renovated, historic Wesley House, where you can picnic in the gardens or enjoy a guided tour. There is also plenty of land and trails to hike through and plenty of water to kayak and fish in. 

  • Eastern Lake

Eastern Lake is perfect for those who want to enjoy the water but would rather be somewhere more secluded and less open than the actual beach. The same sugary white sand can still be found at the beach, but the waters are a lot more shallow. Eastern Lake is a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. There are also several pathways that are perfect for biking and hiking. 

  • Deer Lake State Park

Another nearby gem is Deer Lake State Park. Surrounded by coastal dune lakes and Southern magnolias, it’s an ideal spot to fish, view wildlife, hike, swim, and picnic. There are two hiking trails, and pets are welcome. 

  • Timpoochee Trail

If you enjoy biking, the preferred method of travel in Seagrove Beach, then get familiar with the Timpoochee Trail. You can make it your daily ride or start from Seagrove and go either north or south and explore different parts of the trail at different times. The trail is just over 18 miles long and runs Scenic 30A Florida
